The Apple SuperDrive writes to DVD-R 4.7 gigabyte General Use media. These discs are playable in most standard DVD players and computer DVD-ROM drives. The following table lists players that we have specifically tested for playability. If your player is not on the list, that does not mean it is not compatible, only that we have not tested it yet.
This list is updated regularly, so check back if you don't see your particular model here.
The reason that not all DVD players can play DVD-R is this: In June 2000, the key players in DVD media came up with a standard that they called DVD-R 2.0. This standard was made to ensure that all DVD players would be able to play DVD-R media. However, not all manufacturers took this standard to heart, and some DVD players are not made to be compliant. Our DVDs all comply to DVD-R 2.0, so in theory they should play in all DVD players made after June of 2000. However, this is not the case. We are here to make you happy, though, so if you have receieved a DVD that will not play in your player, we will let you keep the DVD in case you get a player that is compliant in the future, and we will send you a VHS copy of the video you ordered. We hope that this satisfies you as our customer, because you are the most important thing to our business. If you have any questions about DVD-R media you have received from us, please contact Gordon Carver at (586) 977-7829, and he will be sure to answer any of your questions. |
